Purpose of Role:

The L&D Specialist designs and develops the necessary digital content for product and skills training learning material. He/She maintains current digital learning materials and modifies and improves them as required. This also includes designing and developing assessments, quizzes and training scenarios and ensuring all learning materials support the achievement of learning/training objectives.

Line Management Responsibility:


Key Areas Of Responsibilities
Perform ongoing administration and support of the LMS by:
Manage and enforcement of LMS system standards, policies and procedures
Conduct testing to ensure online courses operate and are tracked correctly
Manage LMS communication, coordination and support of all training courses
Monitor course rollouts to ensure expected learner notifications are generated by system as prescribed
Follow-up on escalation procedures and workflows as configured on the LMS
Identify, research and resolve user questions and issues
Perform ongoing maintenance and data cleanup to ensure data integrity
Deliver training for users, managers, administrators and others who interact with the LMS
Network with our global offices and other colleagues who work on the system.
Create and share reports based on LMS tracking
Report on utilization, completion and sessions in in progress
Ad hoc reports
Recommend future system upgrades and stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and LMS trends
Upload and maintain learning content
Ensure the effective management and delivery of eLearning and all online content
Participates in system test design, system testing and support of the user
Support third party vendors in order to integrate content or services
Train other systems administrators on LMS and navigation and use thereof
Apply learning design and development learning theories
Create of online learning, quizzes, assessments and surveys using the theory of Blooms Taxonomy

Actively apply the ADDIE model of Instructional Design throughout the development and delivery of learning materials Design and develop blueprints for learning programmes
Research and implement best practices in the areas of instructional design and e-learning and continuously apply sound instructional design principles and learning theories
Apply information mapping and content analysis in design of learning materials
Design and develop systems training and interactive e-learning solutions inclusive of storyboarding and games in e-learning materials
Design and develop learning material by utilising:
Planning and preparing for development.
Gather and organise knowledge and information into appropriate learning modules or performance support tools and engaging subject matter experts in the development process.
Design the learning programme.
Select learning activities and methodologies which are appropriate to the learner and the learning content.
Provide adequate formative and summative assessments as per SETA requirements.
Learning outcomes for the programme.
Ensure learning outcomes are consistent with the specifications of Unit Standards, Exit Level Outcomes or Curriculum Modules.
Produce outcomes and criteria in a format that is consistent with established norms and criteria which are achievable and assessable
Produce outcomes and criteria that provide clear guidelines of the expected standard of performance required and are written in a simple language with minimum mediation required.
Develop learning materials (including theory, presentations slides, learning activities, learning aids, scripts, job aids, graphics, charts, instructions, and guidelines)
Develop learning activities to ensure sufficient opportunities for learners to practice and thereby achieve mastery of the required outcomes.
Ensure materials are appropriate to the learner and the learning context, adhere to adult learning principles, and promote integration and takes account of possible special needs of learners.
Use simple language.
Ensure materials are coherent and presented in a format and style that meets quality assurance requirements.
Develop learning facilitation guidelines. (The guidelines may be used by facilitators, tutors, on-the-job trainers, line managers, supervisors, trainers).
Identify the business and learning outcomes and outline the summative assessment arrangements.
Provide clear instructions for the facilitation of learning as per the learning design, including descriptions of methodology and strategy.
